今日單字: boom [n.] = 繁榮、興旺

這次的「今日單字」是一種很特別的字。

中文稱這種字為「擬聲語」或「聲喻法」，而英文則稱為" onomatopoeia "。

意思就是.....那一個字其實代表一個聲音。

例如: " boom " 這個字其實代表一個爆炸聲或隆隆聲。

請去想想一個很多人的地方是不是熱鬧的快爆炸了呢，這也就是為什麼 " boom " 也有很「繁榮、興旺」的含意。

相信很多人聽過「嬰兒潮」，即美國人於1946年至1964年間生下大量嬰兒的時期。

英文就是 " baby boom " 喔。

Taiwan recently passed a " luxury tax " to help cool down the property boom and control the soaring prices.
